Abstract:Abstract: This paper mainly discussed the methods and results of natural radioactivity evaluation in
the lithium-beryllium rare metal mining area of Jiulong County. The air absorbed dose rate of gamma
radiation ,238 U , 232 Th and 40 K activity concentration were measured on the surface of the mining area.
At the same time , chemical sampling and analysis of ore bodies and wall rocks were carried out. The
main surface water and groundwater samples in the mining area were also analyzed for total alpha ,
total beta radioactivity and the content of radium , thorium , potassium and radon. The results show
that the average absorbed dose rate of gamma radiation in the whole area is 106.4 nGy · h -1 . The average
activity concentration of 238 U , 232 Th and 40 K in lithium and beryllium ore bodies are 0.098 , 0.056 , 0.801 , 0.079 , 0.110 and 1.155 Bq · g -1 , respectively. The average value of total alpha radioactivity and total beta radioactivity in mine water is 0.047 1 Bq · L-1 and 0.093 1 Bq · L-1 respectively. Through the investigation of the radioactive level in the mining area , this paper providesa reference for the decision-making of the safe development and utilization of the lithium beryllium mine area.
