Abstract：Goaf has serious influence on coal mine production safety ， accurate geophysical exploration method is badly needed for searching the gaof. Channel wave seismic technique is a suitable way due to its long propagation distance and high resolution. Firstly ， single channel dispersion and spectral display can be used to numerically simulating the goaf under the variation of the coal thicknessbecause the propagating velocity of Eli phase will decrease vs the thickness of coal seam while the dispersing intensity will increase vs the propagating distance. the goaf in 15050 working face of Xin ’ an coal mine in Yima area was studied as the case with seismic reflection detection. By analyzing frequency spectrum and travel time of the shot-gather records ， the velocity information of reflection channel wave and surrounding rock from goaf can be identified. The kerchhoff integral migration method is used to image the thin belt of coal seam and the boundary of goaf on the working face ， and the detected results are consistent with the known geological data.
