Abstract:Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry(LA-ICP-MS)is a quick, accurate and in-situ analytical technique for the measurement of element concentrations and isotopic ratios. This analytical technique has been widely used in earth science in recent years. In this study,a Geolas 193 nm laser-ablation system was used together with an Element XR ICP-MS. We acquired optimal working parameters of Laser-ablation system through experiments. The ideal energy density, repetition rate and beam spot are 7 J•cm-2,8 Hz and 44 or 60 μm,respectively. There is obvious matrix effect, when analyzing trace element concentration of geological samples by LA-ICP-MS. Internal and external standard calibration method have been applied during this study to decrease the influence of matrix effect. NIST SRM 610 was used as the external standard reference material, and 44Ca was used as internal standard element. We applied this method to determine the trace elements concentration of USGS reference glasses BHVO-2G,BCR-2G,BIR-1G and GSE-1G,and the analytical results are satisfactory.
