Based on the analysis of natural gas composition, carbon and hydrogen isotope characteristics, this paper discussed the geochemical characteristics, origin and source of natural gas in Puwei area of Dongpu depression. The natural gas in the study area was found mainly methane with a high content of heavy hydrocarbon gas, the dryness coefficient of natural gas (C1/C1-5) was mostly less than 0.95, which is typical wet gas. The natural gas was tested with δ13C1 concentrated in the range of -41.9‰～-28.4‰, δ13C2 concentrated in the range of -29.3‰～ -23.1‰, δ13C3 concentrated in the range of -28.3‰～-21.3‰, and δ13C4 concentrated in the range of -27.6‰～-23.4‰. It showed that the natural gas in the study area was mainly coal gas of organic origin and contained a small part of oil gas and mixture gas. The gas source correlation study showed that the natural gas in Weicheng gas field was a typical mixed gas, which mainly came from Es3 and Es4 lacustrine source rocks and was mixed with some deep carboniferous and Permian coal-type gas of high maturity stage. The natural gas in Hubuzhai gas field is a typical coal-type gas, which came from the high maturity coal-type gas in deep Carboniferous-Permian System. There are many types of natural gas in Pucheng gas field. Oil-type gas came from Es3 and Es4 lacustrine source rocks, coal-type gas came from deep Carboniferous-Permian System high-maturity coal-type gas, and mixed gas comes from the mixed sources of the above two source rocks.
